This is how it works

When should you apply?

The basic rule is: the sooner the better.
Technical and commercial vocational training courses always commence on 1 September every year. Study at the Berufsakademie Mosbach always commences on 1 October each year, preceded by a practical basic mechanical training course at the AZO training centre lasting approximately four weeks.

You should submit your application to us about one year in advance.

Industrial mechanicmachine and systems technology studies

Requirements:
Good secondary school grades or two years of vocational experience in the metal-working trade. An interest in, and a facility with manual work.

Length of training course:
Three and a half years. Theoretical training takes place in the central trades training centre (Zentralgewerbeschule) in Buchen.


Training contents:
Every trainee receives a personal learning plan for his/her training course. This defines the departments in which the various aspects of the training course will be delivered.


Basic vocational training:
During the first year of their training course, trainees receive their basic vocational training in the AZO training centre. The following knowledge and skills constitute the main focus of attention at this stage: inspecting, marking out and designating, aligning and cutting tools and workpieces, manual and mechanical machining, cutting, shaping and jointing. Work safety, environmental protection and use of power, reading, using and producing technical documents, choosing, arranging and handling auxiliary materials, planning and controlling movement sequences, checking and evaluating results, maintaining utilities.

IHK Part One examination

Third and fourth year of training course (vocational further training):
Vocational training is delivered in the training centre and in the following departments: sheet cutting, sheet shaping, sub-assembly welding, plant repairs, machining, construction of large containers, pre-assembly, trials & testing, quality assurance.

This specialist course of study involves: reading, using and creating technical documents; planning and controlling work and movement sequences; checking and evaluating results: maintaining items of tooling: inspecting, marking out and designating; manual and mechanical machining; cutting; shaping and jointing; installing and inspecting pneumatic circuits; assembling components and assemblies; producing programs for NC and CNC-controlled machines; inspecting and setting up individual functions on sub-assemblies through measuring and recording working distances and operating values; setting up workplaces; maintaining machines and systems; thermal cutting; hot shaping; various welding processes; setting up and inspecting hydraulic circuits in open-loop control systems; assembling and dismantling machines, systems and supply systems; intermediate examination of sub-assemblies and sub-systems; inspecting and adjusting functions; commissioning machines and systems; identifying, localizing and remedying defects and malfunctions.

Preparation for examination and final examination

Vocational experience:
On completion of vocational training, industrial mechanics with a background in machine and systems technology may be employed on-site for customer projects at AZO in the following departments: plant production, maintenance and the on-site, customer service department.

Technical draughtsperson machine and plant systems

Requirements:
Good secondary school grades, interest in technical tasks and procedures and good spatial awareness.

Length of training course:
Three and a half years. Theoretical training takes place in the central trades training centre (Zentralgewerbeschule) in Buchen.


Training contents:
Every trainee receives a personal learning plan for his/her training course. This defines the departments in which the various aspects of the training course will be delivered. In the first four months of the training course, Production Training I is delivered in the company training centre. This involves manufacturing workpieces using a range of processes, and then measuring, inspecting and evaluating production components. This is followed by the 14 months of Vocational Training I in the design department.
The following knowledge and skills form the focal point of this stage:
Producing basic geometric designs; applying the fundamentals of view presentation; using dimensional entries and section views; creating sub-assemblies and complete drawings using CAD; reading and arranging results in an organizational structure.

IHK Part One examination

This is followed by Production Training Courses II, III, IV and V (covering a total of eight months) in the following departments: sub-assembly welding; container construction; pre-assembly; trials & testing; quality assurance. Instruction is given in these areas: shaping of workpieces; fundamentals of welding; assembly of components into sub-assemblies; assembly of complete sub-assemblies into functional units with analysis of functional sequences; inspecting and evaluating workpieces and surface properties with gauges.

Sections II, III and IV of this training course involve trainees spending time in the design, development and project management departments (16 months) and in the IT department (1 month).

The main duties are:
Producing detailed, sub-assembly and complete unit drawings, drive elements, casting design and pipeline systems for technical process equipment; drawing welded designs and compiling the associated sub-assembly parts lists taking due account of relevant production processes; explaining and applying the fundamental laws of mechanics; drawing specialist function sequences and circuit diagrams for pneumatic control units in the form of flow charts; performing specialist calculations, especially for mechanical and drive elements. In the IT department: familiarization with structure and duties of the computer system, handling data processing equipment, especially CAD systems.

Preparation for examination and final examination

Vocational experience:
On completion of vocational training, technical draughts people with a background in machine and plant systems may be employed at AZO, primarily in the following departments: development, design, technical project processing, project management in technical sales (e. g. producing quotations and orders) and technical documentation.

Information technology commercial assistant

Requirements:
Good secondary school grades Interest in modern information and communication systems. Reliability, ability to think logically and to work with numbers.

Length of training course:
Three years. Theoretical training takes place in the Frankenlandschule in Walldürn.

Training contents:
Every trainee receives a personal learning plan for his/her training course. This defines the departments in which the various aspects of the training course will be delivered. The majority of the training course is delivered in the IT department. Trainees also gain an insight into the work of the following departments: order management; finance and invoicing; controlling; marketing; purchasing; sales; production planning and human resources.

Here are some typical examples of the training course contents:
teamwork, order processing, invoicing and controlling, commercial management and control, operational organization, status, legal form and structure of the training centre, fundamentals of the following areas: purchasing; marketing, sales and human resources, health & safety at work, ergonomics of computer workplaces, applications and development trends in IT and telecommunications technology, analysis of actual figures, requirements analysis and design of workplace systems and networks, system architecture, hardware and operating systems, programming techniques, planning, control and inspection of operational processes, IT organization, application problems, applications software, installing, configuring and optimizing, project preparation and implementation, instructing and training, networks and information/ telecommunications services, data protection and copyright protection, system administration and support.

IHK Part One examination, creating a specialist task in an application area, preparation for examination and final examination

Vocational experience:
On completion of vocational training, IT specialists at AZO assure rational, optimum usage of modern office and IT systems and technologies. They advise users, plan data processing systems and program, support, document and test applications and systems software. Another task involves the setup and support of networks and databases.

Information technology specialistsystems integration studies

Requirements:
Good secondary school grades Interest in modern information and communication systems. Reliability, ability to think logically and to work with numbers.

Length of training course:
Three years. Theoretical training is conducted in the central vocational training college in Buchen in collaboration with the Frankenlandschule in Walldürn


Training contents:
Every trainee receives a personal learning plan for his/her training course. This defines the departments in which the various aspects of the training course will be delivered.

The majority of the training course is delivered in the IT department. This also involves the trainee gaining an insight into the following departments: electrical engineering, programming of programmable controllers, PC commissioning, CAD systems support, materials management, production planning, controlling, finance and invoicing, human resources, marketing, sales, production control, production planning

The course contents are as follows:
Status and legal form of the training centre, vocational training, labour and wage tariff legislation, health & safety at work, business and performance processes, delivering and evaluating performance, operational organization, procurement, market and customer relations, commercial management and controlling, work organization and working techniques, informing and communicating, planning and organizing, teamwork, information and telecommunications products and markets, applications and development trends, system architecture, hardware and operating systems, applications software, networks, services, producing and supporting system solutions, actual analysis and conception, programming techniques, installing and configuring, data protection and copyright legislation, system support, system development, analysis and design, program production and documentation, interface concepts, test procedures, training, system configuration, networks, system solutions, introduction of systems, service, user support, fault analysis, troubleshooting, system support, products, processes and procedures, project planning, project implementation, project inspection, quality assurance.

IHK Part One examination, creating a project assignment, preparation for examination and final examination

Vocational experience:
After completion of vocational training, IT specialists implement complex hardware and software systems in accordance with specific AZO requirements. They analyze, plan, implement and carry out new or modified information and telecommunications systems. They assist users with specialist advice, support and training.

Typical applications include networks, client/server systems, fixed networks or radio networks.

Bachelor of Engineering (BA) Commercial IT specialist

Requirements:
General or training-related specific graduate qualification from a tertiary education institution. Male applicants should have completed their basic military or social service.

Length of training course:
Three years, of which one and a half years are spent in the Berufsakademie in Mosbach.  After three years, candidates sit the state examination leading to the qualification of Bachelor of Engineering (BA). All courses commence on 1 October. This is preceded by an induction course at AZO lasting approximately four weeks.

When they start out on their training courses, all students are issued with a personal learning plan which defines the departments in which individual course components will be delivered.

Requirements:
General or training-related specific graduate qualification from a tertiary education institution.

Length of training course:

After three years, candidates sit the state examination leading to the qualification of Bachelor of Engineering (BA). All courses commence on 1 October.
